Put your business in a blender… pour out something new.

Well, we’re in week four of “these four walls” and what have you accomplished? (I say this with a dash of sarcasm and some earnest curiosity…)

Me? I’ve gone on bike rides. Lots of bike rides with my husband and young daughters. I’ve made flower salads. I’ve scrap booked. I’ve supervised really messy science experiments. I’ve started a kids circuit training class from the depths of my own basement…

I’ve also spoken to sports business leaders who I never would have been able to pin down if the world was spinning at its usual rate.

And when I really look at all of these things—none of which I would have done during “normal” times—I feel grateful.

Time away creates space for change.

In the fleeting moments of productivity over these past weeks, I’ve cooked up some inspiration that I hope serves my little following of sports industry leaders who run businesses and manage teams.

I want to share a mindset metaphor (I just love metaphors!) about breaking down to build up. About putting your business in a “blender” and pouring out something new.

Ready to begin a mindset shift?

Toss your business into a blender.

Imagine your business and all of its parts being tossed inside a blender. That blender is our present environment.

If you were to press blend, your business would get chopped up into pieces, and it wouldn’t be super appealing.

In order to change the shape of your business, you’ve got to add something.

What if you added water to that blender?

Water is a naturally occurring resource on this planet that has the power to create dramatic change.

Inside a blender, your business plus ‘water’ would take on a new shape and consistency. All of the elements would still be there. They’d just look different, because of one simple addition.

Can you make one small change to your offering that creates an impact?

Can you add water?

I challenge my leaders in the sports business to find their water.

So, what is your water? What can you add to your business to inspire change? What subtle tweak can you make that builds engagement, loyalty, awareness—for your business or your personal brand?

Go ahead… think about it. Reinvent yourself in this new world… innovate in the offseason… add water… and prepare to reinvent yourself again when sports do return… likely in a new format. In a new container.

Those who are remaining positive and productive (in small, daily ways) will be well-positioned when that time does come. And it will come.

Inhale… exhale… (Do you get the sense that I’m talking to myself?) ;)

If you need help blending, I’m here for you.

Book a call and we’ll talk about it.

Let the countdown to live sports begin…
